An Australian farmer discovered a seedless lemon tree after years of studying various lemon varieties and using traditional breeding techniques. To create more trees, the farmer took buds from the seedless lemon tree and replanted them in the existing rootstocks of other trees – a process called budding. Another seedless lemon variety was also discovered in South Africa. After more than a decade of observing trees in the field after the initial budding, we have made these seedless lemons available in the U.S. as Wonderful Seedless Lemons.
